NORMAN — No. 6 Oklahoma took down UCLA, 49-21, on Saturday in Norman.
The Sooners improved to 2-0 on the season after another strong performance on both sides of the ball. The Oklahoma offense produced seven touchdowns and 485 total yards while the OU defense limited UCLA to three scores and recorded 12 tackles for loss.
Quarterback Kyler Murray compiled a career-high 306 passing yards and three touchdowns on 19-of-33 completions. Murray scored his first rushing touchdown at OU (second career) on a 10-yard rush on the first play of the second quarter. The quarterback also rushed nine times for 69 yards and two touchdowns. Murray is the first OU quarterback to lead the team in rushing since Trevor Knight ran for 146 yards against Iowa State in 2014.
Murray’s primary target of the day was receiver CeeDee Lamb, who totaled one touchdown, seven receptions and 146 receiving yards, an average of 20.9 yards per reception. Lamb also returned a third-quarter punt a career-long 66 yards.
Oklahoma opens Big 12 play next Saturday at Iowa State. The Sooners and Cyclones kick off at 11 a.m. CT on an ESPN network to be determined.
