December is just days away, and with it yet another batch of free PlayStation Plus games for subscribers to Sony’s premium online service.
This month is decent, but nothing special (much like the Xbox Games With Gold offerings.) There’s a range of titles, however, so there should be something for everyone next month.
Let’s take a look.
December Free PS Plus Games
- Steins;gate (83% on Metacritic)
- Iconoclasts (crossbuy w/PS4)
- Papers, Please
For PlayStation 4 players, Onrush is a fast-paced racing game that received decent reviews. Soma, meanwhile, is a science-fiction horror title from the makers of Amnesia: The Dark Descent. Good for anyone who likes trippy sci-fi titles.
Steins;Gate is a visual novel that I’ve been meaning to play for ages now—and hey, now’s as good a time as any other than all the other games releasing during the busy season!
Steredenn has great user reviews on Steam. It’s apparently a new release, so why this is in the PS3 category is a mystery (I can find reviews for it on Xbox One and PC but not on any PlayStation platform, so it must be new to Sony’s consoles.) It’s a pixel-art side-scrolling arcade space shooter. Looks good—too bad it’s on PS3 and not PS4.
Of the two Vita games, I’ve played Papers, Please on PC and it’s quite good. A game of miserable people management as you allow or refuse people crossing the border. Stamp the right entry visas, you’re rewarded. Stamp the wrong ones and you could go broke and your family might suffer. It’s not easy to turn people away… Quite a relevant game for our strange times.
Of all these, the last is the one I recommend the most, though you should find a variety of cool free games on this list. If you’ve played any, let me know what you think of them on Twitter or Facebook. Thanks!
