Corsicana in the running for TV series — Use #mycorsicana for chance at $500K downtown makeover

Last week, the Deluxe Corporation, the leading provider of small business marketing and financial services and creators of Small Business Revolution – Main Street, announced that the Corsicana Main Street Project received enough nominations from a national competition to be in the Top 20 towns competing for season four’s critically acclaimed television series and a half a million dollars in revitalization funding. The nominations took place in October with nearly 12,000 received.

Over the next month, Deluxe executives will gather more information from the Top 20 communities before narrowing the list to 10 finalists to visit cities in the month of January. Eventually, five communities will be selected for a national vote to determine the winner. The winning small town and six of its businesses will receive a $500,000 revitalization and transformation effort, and these businesses will be in Season 4 of the television series.

The announcement on the Top 10 towns will be received December 11, and if Corsicana is on the list, the Deluxe team will be coming to town.

“Right now, Deluxe executives are watching Corsicana’s social media messaging to see how the community shares all the things we love about our town,” said Karie Denny, Main Street Tourism Director. “It’s important to make as much noise as possible.”

Corsicana is the only city in Texas in this year’s competition. Other small towns are: Albemarle, NC, Arkansas City, KS, Arlington, WA, Biddeford, ME, Camas, WA, Canon City, CO, Durant, OK, Fergus Falls, MN, Gallatin, TN, Lockport, NY, Marinette, WI/Menominee, MI, Morgan City, LA, Pageland, SC, Rock Springs, WY, Searcy, AR, Taos, NM, Washington, NC, Wilmington, OH and Winchester, KY.

Denny is ready for the competition.

“We have heart and an overwhelming sense of community spirit, along with a history of being first. We can win this,” she said.

Corsicana Main Street is already planning a community-wide rally following the announcement of the Top 10 towns around Dec. 11.

Organize a Hashtag Takeover with a quick shout out about the Small Town Revolution – Main Street and encourage everyone to post messages.

Add a message to your advertising

If you place ads for your business, provide a small space to include the hashtag #mycorsicana to encourage viewers to post why they love Corsicana. Add #mycorsicana to promotional signs, and include a short description of the campaign in your company newsletter. Restaurants can add this to menus and table signs so visitors can post while they are in your establishment.

Family and Friends
