Now, the smash musical and film, “Oklahoma!” gets new life in a TV series.
Skydance Television, The Rodgers Hammerstein Organization, and Concord announced they will partner in the new TV series, to be set in the modern day.
John Lee Hancock of “The Blind Side” and “The Highwaymen” will direct, write and produce.
Meanwhile, Bekah Brunstetter of “This is Us” will be a writer.
“Oklahoma!” was the first musical written by famed team Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein the second. Its main theme is of a farm girl and the rivalry of two of her suitors.
It originally ran for over 2,200 Broadway performances and had an all-star film cast.
It’s not clear yet when the new series will make its TV debut.
